Tea for Taiwan: A Documentary About Taiwanese American Activism

October 19, 2019

Eliana Ritts
2019 | 18 min | USA, Taiwan
Director in Attendance

Bubble tea, known for its fluorescent straws and tapioca balls, has become a staple in New York City. But the sweet drink is also a surprising tool for Taiwanese-American activists. Unlike the ubiquitous beverage, Taiwan, a nation of 23 million people, is largely unrecognized by the international community. Through this exploration of bubble tea, experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of Taiwanese activism in New York City.

Co-presented by the New York University Center for Media, Culture and History, Department of Anthropology
