Hyphen Hosts "Between the Sheets" Author/Writer Event in NYC

Now that we have your attention, you’re invited to join Hyphen as we get down and dirty about sex and sexuality, in conjunction with our 27th issue: The Sex Issue.Join us as Hyphen’s own fiction and poetry editor Karissa Chen host a kick-ass line-up of writers and readers, including: Bill Cheng, Eugenia Leigh, Ed Lin, T Kira Madden, Patrick Rosal, and Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai. Did we mention these extremely talented and intellectually (and otherwise) attractive people will be reading poems and fiction about sex?

BILL CHENG received a BA in creative writing from Baruch College and is a graduate of Hunter College’s MFA program. Born and raised in Queens, New York, he currently lives in Brooklyn with his wife. SOUTHERN CROSS THE DOG (Ecco, 2013) is his first novel.

EUGENIA LEIGH is the author of BLOOD, SPARROWS AND SPARROWS, a collection of poetry forthcoming via Four Way Books in October 2014. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications including The Collagist, Indiana Review, and the Best New Poets 2010 anthology. She received her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and serves as the poetry editor at Kartika Review.

ED LIN is the author of several things. Two of his books are being published next year — a Taipei-based mystery that involves food, murder and goddesses on Soho Crime and a coming-of-age story about stupid kids in Jersey on Writ Large Press. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, actress Cindy Cheung, and son Walter.

T KIRA MADDEN is a writer and photographer whose work has appeared in Hyphen magazine, Puerto del Sol, and The Fiddleback, among others. She is the editor-in-chief of the literary journal No Tokens, and curator for the Krapp Shot reading series.

PATRICK ROSAL is the author of three full-length collections of poetry. BONESHEPHERDS (Persea Books, 2011), his most recent, was named a notable book by the Academy of American Poets and the National Book Critics Circle. He teaches in the Rutgers-Camden MFA program.

KELLY TSAI is an award-winning spoken word poet, multidisciplinary theater artist and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, who has been featured at over 500 venues worldwide including the White House and three seasons of “Russell Simmons’ HBO Def Poetry.” KARISSA CHEN is the fiction and poetry editor at Hyphen magazine. She is the author of the chapbook OF BIRDS AND LOVERS (Corgi Snorkel Press, 2013).
