Date: Saturday, January 5, 2013
Location: Sweeney Ridge Trail
Address: 3716 Sneath Lane, San Bruno, CA
Happy Early 2013! Come start that New Year’s exercise resolution with your fellow Taiwanese American Professionals – San Francisco (TAP-SF) members on one of the most scenic hikes in the Bay Area. We’ll be trekking up Sweeney Ridge near Millbrae, where Gaspar de Portola first discovered San Francisco Bay for Spain in 1769. Along with the Bay of San Francisco, Sweeney Ridge’s spectacular vantage point on a clear day provides views of the Farallon Islands, Mount Tamalpais, Point Reyes, Mount Diablo, the Montara Mountains, and San Pedro Point.
We will be meeting at the trailhead at 2:30PM on January 5th. To get to the trailhead take Sneath Lane from I-280 and drive about two miles west. Sneath Lane will end and you will see a paved path and a sign for the trail. Or simply plug in either 3716 Sneath Lane, San Bruno, CA or 37°37’9.54″N, 122°27’14.75″W into your GPS. If you are running late or cannot find the trailhead the day of the hike, please contact TAP-SF organizer.
Things which would be good to have for the hike: Sunscreen, water, comfortable hiking clothes and shoes (it does get rather windy/chilly up on top of the ridge line).
For those who want to hang out afterwards, we can grab some frozen yogurt from Nubi Yogurt in Millbrae afterwards (979 Broadway, Ste 106, Millbrae, CA 94030)
