Volunteer with TAP with NorCal
February 25, 2017 @ 9:45 am - 3:00 pm
$3Taiwanese American Professionals – San Francisco (TAP-SF) will be volunteering with the Silicon Valley Bike Coalition to repair bicycles for low-income children, families and individuals. Volunteer tasks include cleaning bikes, repairing bikes, and/or tearing down bikes. We will learn bicycle repair skills with the help of experienced volunteers in a warehouse and workshop which is fully outfitted with storage, repair stands and tools. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill while giving back to the community.
The Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) exists to promote increased cycling in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Their programs seek to change behavior by giving people the tools they need to ride a bike: education, encouragement, and community. The Bicycle Exchange meets on selected Saturdays throughout the year to receive, repair, and distribute its inventory of donated bicycles. They donate bikes and helmets to local charities that serve both children and adults, and provide bikes to homeless individuals to provide transportation from shelters to places of employment and schooling.
We will be repairing bicycles; no prior experience needed but please dress comfortably! If you would like to signup, Please confirm your spot via eventbrite and receive additional volunteer details/carpool arrangments. Please bring in $3 to chip in for pizza for lunch.
