Taiwanese Culture Night 2016 at UCLA

UCLA presents Taiwanese Culture Night 2016: 摯親愛的 (Dear My Love).
Growing up in a traditional Taiwanese family, Audrey tends to hide her true feelings and aspirations because of her family’s expectations for her to become a stereotypical, obedient daughter. When Audrey meets Ellen, a girl who constantly chases after her dreams, they fall in love. How will their families react to their relationship? Will the traditional family values support their love? Will Audrey finally become fearless to protect her true love with Ellen? We invite you to join us and re-evaluate the power of love through the struggles Audrey and Ellen experience with their LGBTQ identity.
Taiwanese Culture Night (TCN), established in 1999, is an annual cultural production that aims to promote Taiwanese culture within the UCLA community and beyond. A story written, directed, and produced exclusively by students, TCN discusses and educates its audience about current social issues that are prevalent in Taiwanese society. TCN is a special performance that comprises of acting, a cappella, Taiwanese pop music, and behind-the-scenes work. Besides its purpose to spread Taiwanese culture, TCN also provides an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in various forms that include finance, marketing, stage design, and leadership. After countless hours of preparing and rehearsing for the show, all cast and crew members of TCN wish to provide their audience an unforgettable night full of tears and laughter.

Freud Playhouse is located in Macgowan Hall, which faces Murphy Sculpture Garden.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Enter UCLA on Hilgard Ave near Sunset. Park in Structure 3. Walk straight alongside Melnitz and Macgowan Halls. Turn left at the plaza and proceed to the courtyard of theaters.
