SUMMARY:Taiwanese American Peter Lin's "New Age\, Old Ways" CD Release
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nJoin us for Peter Lin’s TNT Quartet CD Release! All attendees will receive a special copy of Peter’s Jazz Comic Book “New Age Old Ways” !\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\n“…His trombone has that same forward sound that evokes beyond be-bop…There’s a jovial brashness here\, an inner light to his playing that suggests he’s in love with this music\, and while he seems to be a perfectly serious and thoughtful performer you can’t help but imagine the smile on his face as he’s playing…” | Marc Phillips – The Vinyl Anachronist \n“The music and playing is deeply rooted in the jazz tradition and Lin’s playing is melodic and his tone is big\, warm and he has good control of his intonation and phrasing.” | Steph Cosme – Staccatofy \nTaiwanese-American trombonist Peter Lin is a young and creative musician active on the New Jersey and New York scene. Born in Baton Rouge\, Louisiana and raised in northern New Jersey\, Peter continues to immerse himself in the honorary jazz community. A graduate of the esteemed jazz programs of William Paterson University (undergraduate) and Rutgers University (graduate)\, Peter studied with trombone legends such as Slide Hampton\, Steve Turre\, Conrad Herwig\, Robin Eubanks\, Steve Davis\, & Frank Lacy. He has performed with many notable artists including Slide Hampton\, Winard Harper\, Charli Persip\, Valerie Ponomarev\, JD Allen\, & Radam Schwartz. Peter is also an established educator\, holding a prestigious faculty position at Melissa Walker & Christian McBride’s non-profit organization\, Jazz House Kids. His first record\, With Respect\, featured arrangements of classic Chinese and Taiwanese songs\, which peaked at #3 on the NACC Charts and #4 on the RMR Charts. His second album\, New Age Old Ways\, features eight of his original compositions along with an original comic book with illustrations by Kelly Lin. \nABOUT “NEW AGE OLD WAYS” \nTrombonist Peter Lin’s self-release “New Age\, Old Ways” is a representation of his musical experiences with the TNT Quartet. The TNT Quartet\, an acronym for ‘trombone n’ tenor’\, features veteran saxophonist JD Allen (courtesy of HighNote Records) and Lin’s hard-swinging\, energy-driven rhythm section: drummer Nic Cacioppo and bassist Ian Kenselaar. Drawing from inspiration of his personal life experiences\, the repertoire serves as a spotlight on Peter Lin’s eight fresh and original compositions. Lin’s new album provides plenty of room for improvisational exploration in this chord-less setup. The album is accompanied by an original comic book drawn in the manga style\, illustrated by Kelly Lin. \nSocials – \nFacebook: http://bit.ly/2Onu9rZ \nInstagram: http://bit.ly/2HSePlQ \nTwitter: http://bit.ly/2CCmjWG \nYouTube: http://bit.ly/2CNfmCr \nListen – \nSpotify: https://spoti.fi/2FBkHOZ \niTunes: https://apple.co/2U89VYt \nApple Music: http://apple.co/2HSRzoI \nAmazon: https://amzn.to/2PgOxeT \nBandcamp: http://bit.ly/2JDxBQi \nSoundcloud: http://bit.ly/2WhDKTG \n\n\n\n\n
