DESCRIPTION:The Taiwanese American community is proud to present “Passport to Taiwan” Festival that celebrates Taiwanese American Heritage Week designated by the Congress in 1999. New Yorkers who are not traveling out of town during the Memorial Day Weekend are encouraged to take the Subway for a trip to Taiwan! \nSince the initiation of the “Passport to Taiwan” festival in 2002\, it has become the most important event for the Taiwanese American and the Mandarin Speaking community in the New York Tri-State area. Tremendous resources have been gathered in order to make the event successful. The festival has since become the largest outdoor Taiwanese event in the entire United States. \nPlease join us for a day of festivities. \nSPECIAL APPEARANCE\n “The food of Taiwan” – Author Cathy Erway will be joining the festival to sign her latest book!  There is much more to Taiwanese cuisine— including its humble peasant foods\, plentiful seafood\, colorful herbs and spices\, and the ways it has incorporated flavors from abroad\, making them into something entirely new. As a whole\, this cuisine transcends political or ethnic boundaries\, and it continues to grow in myriad ways. This book’s humble mission is to inspire more dialogue on the food of Taiwan.
