It depicts how the multiracial Kano baseball team from southern Taiwan overcame great odds to represent the island in the 1931 Japanese High School Baseball Championship at Koshien Stadium\, when Taiwan was still under Japanese rule. Performing beyond all expectations\, the underdog team advanced to the championship game in the tournament. \nDirector Umin Boya’s Statement-\n“…I chose to film the story of the KANO baseball team because it is a singular historical event directly linked with Taiwan’s baseball development. It marked the starting point of baseball talent cultivation and local sport promotion. Most of all\, they were the first truly multi-ethnic baseball team in Taiwan under the colonial rule. Such composition demonstrates that when people have a common goal in sight\, they can put aside their differences of all sorts and unite through mutual understanding\, respect\, and tolerance. \nThe film not only allows us to relive the one of the most glorious chapters in Taiwan’s baseball history; it also encourages us to cherish shared memories based on friendship and family bonds.” \nEvent Details-\n2:00 – 2:30 Check-In (Doors open at 2pm!)\n2:30 – 3:00 Open Talk by Wei & Huang\n3:00 – 6:05 Screening-KANO（185 min）\n6:05 – 6:10 Break\n6:10 – 6:50 Post Screening Talk w/ Producers Wei & Huang ＋ Q&A \nPrice-\n$5 – Student\n$10 – Non-student \nTickets-\nYou can purchase the tickets at the event but the number will be limited .
