Taiwan may be a small, but the culture (food, film, music, architecture) and the people are so much bigger than the island it lives on.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n I am Charlie Chang and I’ve been singing, playing guitar, and writing music for 8 years. If you knew me when I was 7 years old you would have never thought I would be making music. I was the kid that would cry at the piano when my mom would make me practice before lessons. My love for music came later when I fell in love with singing in middle school. High school was filled with theatre, musicals, plays, and choir so I decided to major in music at Azusa Pacific University. I’ve been playing all over Southern California and have continued to write and record.<\/p>\n What do you do? <\/strong>I am an Online Marketing Coordinator at Universal Music Group Distribution by day and a singer-songwriter by night. My day job at UMGD consists of working on online marketing initiatives for UMG artists\/bands including online grassroots marketing and running the online marketing internship at UMGD. In the evenings I’m writing, recording, playing shows, and if I’m not doing that then I’m at home, hanging out with my fiancee or playing on the PS3.<\/p>\n Why are you proud to be of Taiwanese heritage? <\/strong>I’m a 2nd generation Taiwanese American. I lived in Taiwan for a brief period as a kid and travel back at least once or twice a year. Everytime I’m there I can never get enough.<\/p>\n What does the future of Taiwanese America look like to you? <\/strong>As we enter into the workforce, politics, entertainment, etc. our jobs, duties, and perspectives will start to bring more attention to Taiwan.
