From bringing me back to Taiwan every year to teaching me Taiwanese, she constantly reminds me of our family\u2019s roots and culture. I grew passionate about the country\u2019s history and politics under her influence, and love Taiwan because she showed me its many faces of beauty. Although I grew up in the U.S., my mother created a little Taiwan-like haven in our home, never letting me forget where we came from.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about one of your earliest memories of your mother.<\/strong> <em>(\u59b3\u5c0d\u6bcd\u89aa\u6700\u65e9\u7684\u8a18\u61b6\u662f\u751a\u9ebc?)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I hated going to pre-school. I didn\u2019t want to go to bed while everyone else was still watching TV, and could never wake up on-time in the morning. My mother, however, insisted that at age 4, I needed to go learn and play with the other children. Every morning, she had to \u201c\u628a\u6211\u6316\u8d77\u4f86,\u201d give me a piggy-back ride down 4 flights of stairs, feed me breakfast, and drive me to school at the speed limit \u2014 all while I was still half asleep.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about how your mother inspires you.<\/strong> <em>(\u59b3\u7684\u6bcd\u89aa\uff0f\u5973\u5152\u5982\u4f55\u6fc0\u52f5\u59b3?)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Although she looks 10 years younger than her peers, my mother has accomplished 6 times over what many strive to do in a life-time. Between migrating from Taiwan to the U.S., she been a successful pharmacist, optometrist, teacher, and now a business woman \u2014 all while fulfilling her responsibilities as the perfect mother (to me) and daughter (to my grandparents). I am always amazed at how well my mother juggled all these different roles, and hope that one day, I can become half as talented as her.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is one thing that you would like your mother to know?<\/strong> <em>(\u6709\u90a3\u4ef6\u4e8b\u662f\u59b3\u5e0c\u671b\u8b93\u59b3\u7684\u6bcd\u89aa\uff0f\u5973\u5152\u77e5\u9053\u7684?)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mommie, you are my best friend forever and ever! I love you and can\u2019t wait till I finish medical school and residency, and can go home and be your \u8abf\u76ae\u7684\u5c0f\u59b9\u59b9 again!
