Springtime Quarterly Dinner

It's been awhile! Time for another NATMA 2G gathering in the SF Bay area! This time, we're going to piggyback off of a fine event organized for an excellent cause! We'll join members of Taiwanese American Professionals in San Francisco and supporters/organizers of the upcoming Taiwanese American Cultural Festival for a fun-filled evening! Funds raised at this event will go towards supporting an excellent festival!

COME OUT and MINGLE with friends of Taiwanese American Professionals - SF Chapter at the luxurious Scruffy Murphys (ScruffyMurphysCA.com) club in Sunnyvale for a social mixer and fundraiser for the upcoming Taiwanese American Cultural Festival (SFTAFest.org).

The upper floor will be reserved exclusively for this fundraiser. It can hold up to 120 people. The first floor can hold 200 people. If needed, a portion of the first floor will be freed up for us.

$15/person before 9pm. $20/person after 9pm. Ticket includes 1 well drink and free appetizers. All proceeds go toward supporting our upcoming Taiwanese American Cultural Festival!

Lecture: "The Drugging of Taiwan"

Did you know that Taiwan as a nation was addicted to opium in the 1930’s? Did you also know that Taiwan had an annual consumption of over 187,000 kilograms of imported opium during 1890s? Learn how the Japanese empire used and abused Taiwan’s resources and how the opium trade coincided with Japan’s annexation of Taiwan.

Dr. Jen Yih Chu, a prominent physician specializing in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology as well as foremost historian will discuss events in the 1930s that became the turning point for medical practice for Taiwanese physicians.
