Come join us to learn about Taiwan’s new political landscape from the student leaders of Sunflower Movement 太陽花學運!

On March 18th 2014, civic groups and student demonstrators stormed Taiwan’s parliament floor to protest the government’s ratifying a controversial trade agreement with China without proper democratic processes. The sit-in, known as the Sunflower Movement, demanded that the government be accountable to the people, and lasted over 20 days.

The occupation ended, the Movement still continues! After came out from the Legislative Chamber, the students have established different pressure groups and organizations in order to enable a more vibrant civil society and lead Taiwan into a better place. Now, five of them will travel to the United States from Taiwan, they will present a speech in DC on 8/22. Don’t miss out!

The discussion will be primarily based in Mandarin, Chinese.
