Art is a universal language. It can be shared across the world and elicit a response from everyone regardless of cultural upbringings or ethnic background. Outreach for Taiwan and Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA) hope to use art to encourage and inspire others to take action for Taiwan.

On Thursday, May 29th, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM there will be an OPENING RECEPTION for the #ART4TW Exhibition and the SEMINAR with the Legislative Yuan occupiers during the Sunflower Movement. This exhibition features Liu Tsung Jung’s two paintings: Illuminating the Darkness and The Guardian of Land Justice. As an artist and activist, Liu participated in the occupation of the Congress in the Sunflower Movement, and also in the campaign for land justice and a variety of issues in Taiwan.

About 20 artists’ artwork will be presented. The exhibition will include art -varying from oil paintings to sculptures -, documentary photography, and short films by various NY-based designers and artists for the Sunflower Movement. Some pieces will be displayed are from the private collection of political activist Patrick Huang. Additionally, posters from two local art advocacy projects, Art for a Free Taiwan initiated by Victoria Linchong and Designing Taiwan co-hosted by FAPA YPG and TaiwaneseAmerican.org, will be exhibited.

We will be auctioning off some of the artwork so be sure to come through!
