Bazhang (or zong-zi in Mandarin) is one of the most famous Chinese foods, traditionally eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival, but generally available year round in markets throughout Asia and around the world. It is a tetrahedron of sticky rice filled with pork, mushrooms, peanuts, and a wide range of savory ingredients, depending on the region or family recipe.

In celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival, Taiwanese American Professionals – Washington, D.C. Area (TAP – DC) is hosting a bazhang making workshop. We will show you how to fill and wrap your own ba-zhang and share some of the history and legend of the food. Guests will be able to bring home 8 of their own ba-zhang (mama would be so proud!) and buy extra for a rainy day.

If interested, please send a $30 payment to our PayPal account (taiwaneseapdc at gmail dot com). Space is limited to 15 people, so please respond early. While confirming on Facebook is nice, a spot is only confirmed when payment is received via PayPal. Final details will be shared with those who have paid. If you have any questions, email gilbert dot wang at tap-dc dot org. Additional bazhang will be available for purchase.
