Submit your Immigration Story to TACL’s Twelve Percent Project

The Twelve Percent Project is an offshoot of the Taiwanese American Citizens League’s Political Internship Program. They’ve created this neat project to highlight Asian American immigration stories, and we think it’s important to include Taiwanese American stories as well!

Read more about their project:

This summer, Congress is voting on comprehensive immigration reform efforts. In the debate surrounding the immigration reform bill, the voices of interest groups, pundits, and DREAMers have sounded loud and clear. But what about the rest of the immigrant population?

The Department of Homeland Security estimates that as much as 12% of America’s undocumented immigrants come from Asian countries, but the stories of Asian and Asian-American immigrants have remained largely unheard. That’s where you come in! The Twelve Percent is a project dedicated to collecting and sharing the immigration stories of Asian Americans across the country. With your help we can show our lawmakers the human side of the immigration debate.

So how can you help? Simple! Submit your immigration story to us—write a text post, film a video, add a photo, or even record a podcast and send it in to our Tumblr or our email (the12percent@gmail.com). Then, share our project! Help spread the word to everybody you know, and together we can make a difference.
