Sharon Jan is a Taiwanese American who has been involved in the Taiwanese American community for a period of time. She was a Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL) Political Intern in 2010 and was also a TACL Journalism Intern prior. Her time at TACL really influenced her decision to start the Weekly Writing Workshop. Being part of an organization and community that poured out so many resources to her showed Sharon how important it can be for young students to get plugged into an organization with a cause. Thus, Sharon just launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for her writing program, which will also allow her to go on a 10-day trip to attend workshops and learn from different thought leaders on innovation and entrepreneurship.

About the program:
The Weekly Writing Workshop (3W) is a program that seeks to empower underprivileged middle school students through creative writing education and college mentorship. 3W just completed its pilot program at Pomona College in Claremont, CA with great results and is now seeking to expand. To do that, they have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $5,000 by July 1st. They have already made great headway and have raised about $3,750, but would love support from the Taiwanese-American community for that extra last push. The money will allow them to launch chapters on eight more college campuses in California and Texas and give them the opportunity to give students high-quality writing education.
