Negotiating is something that takes place on every level, from your every day dealings with coworkers to giant mergers between international companies. Knowing how to navigate these tricky roads by understanding what you’re dealing with is key to making sure that your negotiations are successful. Come join Taiwanese American Professionals – San Francisco (TAP-SF) to hear from our speaker about negotiation!

Ms. Portia Ku, our featured speaker, is a partner at the law firm of O’Melveny & Myers who frequently conducts cross-border negotiations between Asia and the United States. Ms. Ku began her career in Taiwan, where she worked for the largest law firm in Taiwan and gained significant experience with foreign investments and large-scale international procurement projections. Her current practice focuses on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and private equity financings. She has represented U.S. underwriters and leading foreign companies in Asia with respect to securities offerings and associated pre-IPO restructuring, as well as mergers and acquisitions. She has had significant experience in cross-border transactions particularly in representing Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors and Dow Chemical with respect to their direct investments in the Greater China region.

At this talk, Ms. Ku will be addressing the differences in negotiation techniques and styles between the United States and Asia, specifically regarding venture capital financing, the different variances in management styles in the United States/Silicon Valley versus Asia, and the way to approach term sheets when beginning negotiations.

Free for TAP-SF members, $5 for non-members. Please pre-pay here: http://tapsfnegotiations.eventbrite.com/ as prices will go up at the door.

Please bring your questions! There will be a Q&A session after her talk.
