Taiwanese United Fund (TUF) invites you to an enjoyable evening of classical music by talented musicians. In collaboration with Torrance Symphony, TUF’s Great Performance Series proudly presents the “Taiwan Night Concert,” featuring Dr. Tyzen Hsiao’s violin concerto performed by Alexander Treger, violin; and the Torrance Symphony, conducted by Frank Fetta, artistic director of the Torrance Symphony.

The violin concerto by Dr. Hsiao was the first of three concerti (the other two were for cello and piano, respectively) commissioned by Taiwanese United Fund in 1988. With melodious themes drawn from Taiwanese folksongs, it became an instant success when Cho-Liang Lin and the San Diego Symphony Orchestra under conductor Heiichiro Ohyama gave its world premiere in 1992.

This Taiwan Night Concert will also feature an art exhibit and a pre-concert talk with the conductor. 6:45 PM Art Exhibit, 8:00 PM Taiwan Night Concert.
