SUMMARY

This year’s FORMOSArt theme is “Reflections: Images of Taiwanese and Taiwanese American Experiences.”

Taiwanese American Professionals – Los Angeles (TAP-LA) is hosting FORMOSArt (FA), and its three components. From June 8th to June 10th, there will be an online community juried show on Facebook, showcasing artwork from a wide array of individuals in the Taiwanese American community. Participating artists have the opportunity to make the original(s) of their online art piece(s) for sale with 30% of the sale price donated towards funding FA’s student grant. During those three days, the public will vote for their favorite general piece and favorite art student piece by clicking the “like” button next to its image on the Facebook page. On June 5th we will announce the three general pieces, and the student piece with the most Facebook “likes” and display these top four pieces at the LA Downtown Art Walk July 12th. The showing at LA Downtown Art Walk serves to give greater exposure of Taiwanese American Art to the general LA public.

Lastly, FA will give away a grant to support and encourage the art student who had the piece with the most Facebook likes. This FA grant will be entirely funded by a $10 suggested applicants entry fee, by taking 30% of sales made through the Facebook Juried Show, and by asking for donations from the public. Additionally, the awarded art student will receive a mentoring session from famous professional Taiwanese Artist/Designer, Bernard Chang.

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates of all ages are encouraged to submit for entry. In order to submit art piece(s) that qualify as entry for the FA student grant, the applicant must explain how he/she is studying/practicing art for visual art career under the “Artist Biography” section of the entry application.
