TAO Presents 3rd Annual Lantern Festival & Night Market at UC Irvine

The Taiwanese American Organization (TAO) at UC Irvine is proud to host its 3rd Annual Lantern Festival & Night Market. With over 30 food and game booths and live entertainment, the festival aims to bring the authenticity of Taiwan’s night markets to the campus community and also celebrate the festivities of the Chinese New Year.

Traditionally held in Taiwan on the fifteenth day of the first month of the Lunar calendar, the Lantern Festival marks the end of the Lunar New Year celebrations. It is a night where children go out to temples carrying all types of paper lanterns and families celebrate with traditional food.

TAO UCI once again brings the festivities over to the UCI campus, as we invite you for a night of delicious food, exciting games and activities, and amazing performances.Our numerous food booths will feature traditional Taiwanese dishes such as minced pork rice (魯肉飯), green onion pancake (蔥油餅), Taiwanese Sausage (香腸), 3 cup chicken (三杯雞), steamed buns (包子), Ba Wan (肉圓), egg rolls (春捲), boba, and so much more! Popular game and activity booths such as lantern painting, shot pong, darts, and Bean Bag Tic-Tac-Toe Toss will also be at the Festival so you have the opportunity to win PRIZES! And of course, come try your luck at fishing for live goldfish with paper nets! Regardless of what you come here for, you will be wowed by our wide selection of activities, food, and live performances that celebrates the Taiwanese culture!

Admission is completely free! Tickets, however, must be purchased for food, games, and activities. Tickets can be bought on the day of at the table outside of Pacific Ballroom. So, invite your friends and family and come out to celebrate this night with us! We can’t wait to see all of you there!
