Congressman Royce has been a long time supporter of the Formosa Foundation and a dominant voice for Taiwan’s democracy. He is an original co-sponsor of the Taiwan Policy Act of 2011 and an active member of Congressional Taiwan Caucus. Stressing both the importance of its economic and defense relationship, Royce has long been an advocate for beginning negotiations on a U.S.-Taiwan free trade agreement, and has consistently spoken out on the need for the U.S. to honor its commitment to Taiwan through the Taiwan Relations Act.
“Our friends in Taiwan face many challenges. China’s continued belligerent actions in the South China Sea are a serious cause for concern to Taiwan and America. We need to bolster our support for Taiwan to promote peace and security in the region.”
— Congressman Ed Royce.
