Taiwanese American Conference West Coast & NATPA Program in San Diego, CA

The North American Taiwanese Professors’ Association hosts its 2011 Annual Meeting Program in conjunction with Taiwanese American Conference West Coast, a meeting of many of the southern California and national Taiwanese American organizations.

It’s an excellent opportunity for the 1st and 2nd generation to enjoy a long weekend together, learn from each other, and hear some great speakers! We’re excited to see that Professor Goodwin Liu, who was recently being considered as a Federal judicial nominee for the 9th Circuit Court, is a keynote speaker for the conference! Don’t miss out!

The talk will present an analysis of the rise of a new Taiwanese national identity during the last 20 years and its links with political change and voting behavior. It will also discuss the Ma Ying-jeou administration’s position on national identity and look at the prospects for the DPP and the KMT at the
